From the Wanderers to the new stadium at Victoria Falls, here is what to expect at all 12 grounds hosting the 2027 Cricket World Cup.

Where Is the 2027 Cricket World Cup Being Played?

The 2027 Cricket World Cup venues are 12 grounds in three countries. South Africa has eight: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Tshwane, Durban, Bloemfontein, Gqeberha, KuGompo City and Paarl. Zimbabwe has three: Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls. Namibia has one, in Windhoek. The list mixes old Test grounds with two stadiums that did not exist at the last World Cup in Africa in 2003: Namibia's national ground and a new ICC-funded stadium at Victoria Falls. South Africa stages 41 of the 57 matches, Zimbabwe 10 and Namibia 6 (CrickBuster's count of the ICC fixture list). The final is at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on 21 November, with the semi-finals at Newlands in Cape Town and Centurion in Tshwane.

The tournament's biggest ground, with room for around 34,000, has hosted two global finals: Australia beat India there to win the 2003 World Cup, and India beat Pakistan there in the 2007 T20 World Cup final. It was also the venue for the 2006 ODI in which South Africa chased down Australia's 434. It stages India v Pakistan on 10 October and the final on 21 November, plus two Super 7 matches.

Newlands, Cape Town

Opened in 1888 and holding around 25,000, Newlands sits beneath Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. It hosts India v Australia on 7 October, South Africa v New Zealand two days later, three Super 7 games, including India v Pakistan on 7 November, and the first semi-final on 17 November.

Centurion, Tshwane

Better known as SuperSport Park, Centurion holds around 22,000 and hosted the 2009 Champions Trophy final. Its five matches include India v Afghanistan on 14 October, South Africa v England in the Super 7 on 27 October and the second semi-final on 18 November.

Kingsmead, Durban

Established in 1923 and holding around 25,000, Kingsmead staged the 1939 Timeless Test and Yuvraj Singh's six sixes in an over at the 2007 T20 World Cup. Four of its six matches are in the Super 7, ending with India v Sri Lanka on 14 November.

Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein

Opened in 1989 and holding around 20,000, Mangaung Oval hosts India v Qualifier A on 17 October and three Super 7 games, among them Australia v Pakistan on 13 November. It has history at World Cups, too: the Netherlands won their only 2003 World Cup match here.

St George's Park, Gqeberha

South Africa played its first Test here in 1889, and the ground's brass band still plays through big matches. It holds around 19,000. It hosts South Africa v England on 16 October and India v England on 11 November.

Buffalo Park, KuGompo City

The city formerly known as East London officially became KuGompo City in 2026. Buffalo Park, Border's main home ground since the late 1980s and a ground of around 16,000, hosts four matches, including Australia v Afghanistan on 18 October and New Zealand v Sri Lanka on 29 October.

Boland Park, Paarl

The smallest of South Africa's eight venues, at around 10,000, sits in the Cape Winelands and is home to the Paarl Royals. It staged three matches at the 2003 World Cup, including India's win over Zimbabwe, and returns for India v New Zealand on 4 November.

Founded in 1900 and holding around 10,000, the club hosted Zimbabwe's first Test, against India in 1992. It is ringed by jacaranda trees, which flower in October. Its four matches include Zimbabwe v Australia on 15 October and Zimbabwe v Pakistan on 19 October.

Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo

Established in 1890 and close to Bulawayo's city centre, Queens holds around 12,500 and hosts Zimbabwe's first two group games, against Qualifier A on 9 October and Afghanistan on 11 October.

Mosi-oa-Tunya Stadium, Victoria Falls

This ICC-funded, 10,000-seat stadium takes its name from the local name for the falls, "the smoke that thunders". It hosts four matches, starting with Zimbabwe v India on 24 October, then India v Australia, Pakistan v England and Australia v New Zealand in the Super 7.

In October the falls are in their dry season, when the flow is lowest and parts of the rock face can be dry. The scenery is still dramatic, but expect less spray than at the April peak.

Namibia's World Cup Venue: Windhoek

The Namibia Cricket Ground is the country's first official cricket stadium, a ground of around 7,000 inaugurated in October 2025, and it hosted matches at the 2026 Under-19 World Cup. It opens the 2027 tournament with all three Super Series games on 2, 4 and 6 October, then hosts England v Bangladesh on 8 October, Sri Lanka v Qualifier B on 10 October and England v Sri Lanka on 13 October.

Weather and Time Zone for Travelling Fans

October and November are spring turning into early summer in southern Africa. Johannesburg, Tshwane and Bloemfontein often see short afternoon thunderstorms, so pack a light rain layer. Cape Town and Paarl are usually drier and windier, Durban is warm and humid, and Victoria Falls is hot at the end of its dry season. All three countries keep the same time, two hours ahead of GMT and three and a half hours behind India.

Planning Your World Cup 2027 Trip

Distances are bigger than they look, so most fans pick a base around their team's fixtures and fly between regions. CrickBuster packages can bring together guaranteed official match tickets in general and hospitality seating, flights, accommodation, airport and stadium transfers, and excursions such as Victoria Falls, the Winelands or a safari.

Visa rules differ between South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, so check each country you plan to enter.
