World Cup 2027 Groups
Twelve teams are split into two groups of six. The top three in each group, plus the better fourth-placed team, go through to the Super 7.
| Group A | Group B |
|---|---|
| India | New Zealand |
| Australia | South Africa (hosts) |
| Pakistan | Sri Lanka |
| Afghanistan | England |
| Zimbabwe (hosts) | Bangladesh |
| Qualifier A | Qualifier B |
The two qualifier slots go to the winner of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier (22 February to 23 March 2027) and the winner of the Super Series in Windhoek. Group A is the heavier draw, with Australia, India and Pakistan together. Group B puts the hosts South Africa alongside New Zealand and England, the two 2019 finalists.
How the Fixtures Are Organised
The tournament opens with a three-team Super Series at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. The World Cup Qualifier's second, third and fourth-placed teams play each other once, and only the winner reaches the group stage.
In the group stage, every team plays five matches. The top three in each group, plus the better fourth-placed team, go through to the Super 7, a single round robin of 21 matches in which every side plays six times. No points carry over from the group stage. To fix venues a year ahead, the ICC has pre-seeded the Super 7: India are A1, Australia A2 and Pakistan A3, New Zealand are B1, South Africa B2 and Sri Lanka B3, and England hold AB4, the slot for the better fourth-placed team. If a seeded team fails to qualify, the team that displaces it takes over its fixtures.
The top four in the Super 7 reach the semi-finals, with first playing fourth and second playing third. Both semi-finals and the final start at 10:00 local time and have a reserve day, with Monday 22 November held for the final.
A few patterns stand out. Every India match, in the group stage and the Super 7, falls on a Thursday or a Sunday. Most days have two games, so a fan based in one region can often see a double. The hosts South Africa play their five group games in five different cities, starting with New Zealand in Cape Town and finishing with Sri Lanka at the Wanderers, while India's group run goes from the Cape to the Highveld and ends in Victoria Falls.
Every group-stage team plays five matches between 7 and 24 October.
